IN BRIEF: Two arrested following attempted Parkmore break-in, eight arrested in connection with syndicate targeting upmarket areas, and R400 000 worth of embalming compound seized in Sandton.

1. BOLO (Be On the Lookout) Alerts:

  • Blue Renault Clio (DM 26 GX GP) was allegedly involved in an attempted break in on Main Street, Bordeaux South on the morning of Thursday 23 November. The driveway gates were lifted off in order to gain access to the property.

  • Armed Robbery on Mount St, Bryanston on Saturday 25 November – keep an eye out for this vehicle:

2. Two arrested following attempted Parkmore break-in (Monday 27 November) – Police received a tip off about a planned break-in and were assisted by 24/7. The suspects had jumped over a number of walls in between houses – one was found hiding in a tree.

3. Syndicate targeting upmarket areas arrested (Friday 24 November) – arrests were made following a house robbery and after a high-speed chase in Bedfordview. A total of eight suspects were arrested and are believed to have been involved in a gang targeting upmarket suburbs (including the Sandton area). Police recovered stolen goods and a firearm, as well as five handguns, an R5 rifle, three stolen vehicles, TVs and jewellery from a safe house in Kelvin.

4. R400 000 worth of embalming compound seized in Sandton (Monday 27 November) – According toMMC for Public Safety, Michael Sun, three male suspects were arrested at Nelson Mandela Square during a drop-off. The embalming compound is often used in the manufacturing of illicit drugs and “can fetch up to US$2 000 per kilogram on the black market.”
