#SupportLocal – We Saw CHICAGO – THE MUSICAL
Let’s face it – these days, going to the theatre is definitely a luxury. Especially if you buy the program (and a box of Smarties) to take with you!
That being said, we loved each and every minute of CHICAGO – THE MUSICAL at Montecasino and would highly recommend you make a plan to see the show.
Firstly, this is a world-class production with slick, polished choreography and vocals that will blow you away. Not to mention the superb acting and skimpy outfits on most of the chorus!
The set design is superb with the orchestra located ON STAGE and used as part of the set. Quite a feat when the majority of the production takes place in a jail cell and court house – but it works and the creativity will astound you.
For me, Samantha Peo stole the show as Velma Kelly. She is both a superb actress and magnificent singer – she was absolutely riveting. Carmen Pretorius (Roxie Hart) could not be faulted and Craig Urbani successfully delivered as the smooth-talking Billy Flynn.
My absolute favourite (and judging by the applause, the audience’s favourite too) was Grant Towers in the role of Amos Hart. He was – perfection – especially his song, Mr Cellophane.
This show is highly recommended – we are truly lucky to have shows of this calibre right on our doorstep!
