1. Update on Illovo petrol station robbery – no arrests made – However, Sandton police have confirmed that the Hyundai H1 has also been connected to various similar robberies in the area. According to reports, the modus operandi of the gang is to target people leaving shopping centres and follow them to petrol stations or other shopping centres. Easy access items such as jewellery, phones, wallets, cash and electronic devices are usually taken. Please keep an eye on your rear-view mirror – especially when leaving a shopping centre!
2. Bryneven parents satisfied with GED resolution – Following the meeting with parents on 16 January in which issues such as fraud, nepotism, mismanagement and victimisation of teachers was raised, the GED has ruled that: the principal leave the school with immediate effect; a suitable person will be found to run the school; and the Governing Body will not be disbanded. Parents later took to social media to express their feelings about the outcome, most of which were extremely positive.
